The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination as the name implies is the state level examination conducted in the state of West Bengal. The test is conducted for admission to the Under Graduate Courses in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture courses.

WBJEE 2023 Important Dates
As per the official notification/information bulletin, WBJEE 2023 examination will be conducted in 1st week of Feb 2023. However, this date of examination is tentative and may be changed in unusual circumstances. Further important dates are given in the table below:

WBJEE 2023 Notification
The WBJEE official notification for the academic year 2023-24 will be released by WBJEEB in the 3rd week of October 2022. Eligible candidates must submit an online application to appear in the examination.

WBJEE 2023 Eligibility
When it comes to eligibility requirements, WBJEEB has stated that the candidates will have to meet the following requirements with respect to different categories as mentioned below:
Citizenship
It is important that the applicant must be a citizen of India
Age Restriction
The lower age limit is 17 years as of the 31st of December 2023. It means that the applicants must have been born on or before the 31st of December 2002.
Age Relaxation
There is no upper age limit for candidates taking WBJEE 2023. However, for degree level Marine Engineering course alone, the upper age limit is 25 years as on the 31st of December 2023.
WBJEE 2023 Educational Qualification Requirement
For Engineering Courses
Applicants must have completed their higher secondary/ 10+2 examination with mathematics, physics along with any one of computer applications, computer science, biology, biotechnology, and chemistry. Also, the applicants must have individual pass marks both in theory and practical papers, wherever applicable. Further, the applicants must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in the case of candidates from the reserved category like SC, PwD, OBC-B, OBC-A, and ST).
In the higher secondary level, candidates must have secured at least 30% of marks in English paper. The higher secondary certification must have been obtained from a board that is certified by the state or central government.
For Pharmacy Courses
For pharmacy courses, candidates must have completed their higher secondary with chemistry and physics along with any one of the following compulsory papers: computer applications, computer science, biology, biotechnology, or mathematics. They should have secured pass marks in these subjects individually both in theoretical and practical papers in the regular class mode. The minimum pass percentage required is 45% (40% for reserved category candidates).
In English paper, the applicants must have secured at least 30% of marks. This qualification must be from a board recognized by the central or state government.
Important Consideration
Candidates taking the qualifying examination in 2023 shall be eligible to apply for WBJEE 2023. However, they will be competent for seat allocation only if they get through the qualifying examination with the least pass percentage stated above.
The West Bengal Board does neither verify the information that the candidates provide during the online application process. Also, the certificates, educational qualification, reservation category, income, domicile, and date of birth are not verified at this time. The board will issue the admit cards only based on the information that the applicants provide in the application. Also, the applicants will not get any chance to correct or change any information they provide in the online application after the correction date.
The board will verify all the certificates only at the time of counseling and at the time of further admission process with the universities concerned. So, if it is found that the applicant has provided false information at any time, the application will be canceled immediately, even if he/she secures a Merit Rank in WBJEE 2023. It applies even if a seat has been allocated based on the WBJEE score.
WBJEE Special Eligibility Criteria
Special eligibility requirement with respect to educational qualification for admission to some specific institute/university department or university or for admission to some particular courses based on the norms and standards of the regularity authorities applies.
Candidates are recommended to check for specific eligibility requirements if they are planning to apply to the University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Neotia University. Further, they should check for the same, if they are planning to apply for a degree course in Marine Engineering and a five-year degree course in Architecture.

- Passed 10+2 examination with Subjects – Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics with minimum 100 marks in total in every subject
- Candidate should secure minimum 60% marks overall in Subjects- Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics and studied all the 3 said subjects in regular class mode
Neotia University
- B. Tech in Marine – Passed 10+2 examination with Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects; also, must have secured 60% marks overall in all the 3 said subjects; also, studied and passed English with 50% marks
- B. Tech in CS and Robotic Engineering – Passed 10+2 examination with Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects; also, must have secured 60% marks overall in all the 3 said subjects
- B. Tech in other streams/branches – Passed 10+2 examination with Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects; also, must have secured 60% marks overall in all the 3 said subjects
University of Calcutta
- Jute & Fibre Technology- Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology as compulsory subjects; also, must have secured 60% [50% for PwD, OBC-B, OBC-A, ST, SC] marks overall in all the 3 said subjects; also, studied and passed English with 30% marks

WBJEE 2023 Application Form
The application form for WBJEE 2023 should be submitted online through the official website of WBJEE at wbjeeb.nic.in. It is important that the applicants must have a working mobile number and also an Email ID. They will get all the future communications from the board only to this email Id and mobile number.
WBJEE 2023 Application Process
How to Fill Application?
At the first instance, the applicants will have to enter the registration details. It means that they should enter their Date of Birth, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name, and of course, their names. They should be careful while entering registration details as they cannot be changed under normal circumstances. Further, they should make sure that the data they enter in this registration form should be exactly the same with all their certificates.
- The system will stop them when the applicants make any attempts to make duplicate registration.
- They should provide their personal details like educational details, choice of examination zones, address, income category, religion, nationality etc.
- After entering these details, the applicants should choose a password and security question and answer.
- Once everything is entered, the candidates are recommended to go through the entered details once to ensure their correctness. If any changes are to be made they can make it immediately.
- The candidate will then be asked to submit the application. Once the submission is made, he/she will get an application number and the same will be sent to the applicant to his/her email and phone number via SMS.
- Candidates are recommended to remember the security question and answer and password.
- In case, he/she forgets the password, the candidate can recover the same using forget password option
After this, candidates have the option to log out or even they can continue to the next step of the application process.
Uploading Images
If the candidate wishes to continue with the application process, he/she will have to upload the scanned images of the recent color photograph. Also, at the same time, they will have to upload their signature as well. The rules of the photograph are as follows:
- The photograph should be a recently taken
- Photos with low-quality images will not be accepted
- The background should be of very light color
- The candidate’s face should occupy at least 50% of the entire space of the photograph
- The candidate should look straight to the camera when capturing the picture
- Photos with Specs of dark or tinted glasses will not be accepted
Candidates should produce a copy of the same photograph that they submit in the application at the time of entering the examination center, during counseling, registration with the university and also at the time of admission.
If the photos are not as per these needs, the candidates will not get the admit card. If it happens, only the candidates will be responsible for the mistake. The board will not check the photos but, if any discrepancy comes to the notice of the board, an SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number of the applicant. Then, he/she will have to log in to upload the correct photograph.

WBJEE 2023 Exam Fee & Payment
Once the uploading of images is completed, candidates will be taken automatically to the next step, where they will have to pay the required examination fee. The fee can be paid either using a credit card, debit card or net banking. The fee paid once is not refundable under any circumstances.
Amount Of Fee
The examination fee to be paid is Rs.500 plus the service charges of the bank as applicable. Candidates can pay the WBJEE examination fees by Net banking / Credit card / Debit card.
Confirmation Page
The next step in the application process is that the applicant will be taken to the confirmation page. It is authentication that the application is completed. Until a candidate generates the confirmation page, the application will not be considered complete.
This confirmation page will have information that the candidate has provided. So, the board is not in any way responsible for the mistakes on the confirmation page. Also, the information in the page will be repeated in all future correspondence.
Candidates should take a printout of the confirmation page. Also, he/she is recommended to preserve the printout until the completion of the application process.
Candidates are recommended to remember that they cannot regenerate the confirmation page after completion of the admission process or declared e-counseling process by the board. So, they should preserve the confirmation process with the utmost care. If anyone losses the same, they can request the board for a duplicate copy, but it can be done only until a specific period. For generating a duplicate copy of the confirmation page, the applicant will have to apply to the board with a processing fee of Rs.500 in the form of DD drawn in the favor of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board payable in Kolkata.
Chance For Correcting WBJEE 2023 Application Form
Candidates should remember that they cannot make any corrections to the primary registration form, where they provided their basic details like their name, father and mother name, and DOB. If he/she intends to correct any other information in the application, it can be done during the given correction window period with the help of the edit mode in the online application. However, the board does not entertain any requests for correction beyond this window. Also, it is the candidate, who will have to make the corrections and the board will not do so on behalf of any candidate.
List Of Documents Needed
The original documents like the higher secondary mark sheet will be verified only at the time of counseling. So, candidates getting through the WBJEE 2023 and getting the counseling call will have to bring their original certificates to the counseling center.
WBJEE 2023 Exam Pattern
The questions in the WBJEE 2023 will be of For each question, there will be four options for the candidates to choose one.
In WBJEE 2023, the applicants will have to apply for two papers. Paper I is mathematics and paper II is physics & Chemistry (combined). Candidates taking up both these papers and getting ranks will be competent for admission to the Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy and architecture in all colleges.
Candidates taking only for Paper-II and obtaining the required rank will be competent to apply for pharmacy courses other than Jadavpur University. Each subject will have three categories of questions and the number of questions and also the utmost marks for each question will be as per the table below:

The questions under category I and II will have only a single correct answer from the four given options. For category III questions, there will be one or more correct answers. The weightage will be as per the pie chart below:
Mode Of Answering
The test-takers will have to answer the questions on a specially designed Optical Machine Readable Response or OMR Sheet. The evaluation will happen through a method called Optical Mark Recognition. So, the test-takers will have to be careful about marking the right answer. The correct answer should be marked by darkening the suitable circle completely using a black or a blue ballpoint pen. Any other type of marking will not be considered by the board. Once they have marked, candidates cannot edit or modify or erase the marked answers. So, before shading any option, they should ensure the correctness.

WBJEE 2023 Selection Process
Ranking Methodology or Merit List
On the basis of the subject that appeared in WBJEE 2023 and the scores thereof, the board will publish two merit rank lists as follows:
GMR
The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total score that a candidate gets in the paper I and paper II. GMR stands for General Merit List and it is valid for entry to the Architecture, technology, and engineering courses and also for the pharmacy course at Jadavpur University.
The board will create the list of ranks in descending order of total marks scored in all subjects. In the case of ties, the suitable tie-breaking rule will apply. The admission counseling will be done only on the basis of GMR. Also, a separate merit list for reserved category candidates will be published by the board.
Pharmacy Merit Rank
Shortly called as PMR, this list will be prepared on the basis of the score in paper II alone. This PMR list will be valid only for entry to the Pharmacy Courses other than at Jadavpur University. Other rules remain the same as GMR.
Papers and Ranks
Candidates taking up both Papers I and II will get both GMR and PMR if they secure more than the cut-off marks. If they appear for Paper-II alone, they will get PMR alone, if they score more than the cut-off. Those appearing in Paper I will not get any rank.

WBJEE 2023 Admit Card
As per WBJEE notification, in the last week of January 2023 [tentative], admit cards will be published on the official website of WBJEEB. Candidates will have to download and take a printout of the admit card. They should carry the printed hard copy of the admit card to the examination center.
It is necessary for the applicants to make sure that the admit card is not damaged in any way by accident. Any candidate with any sort of distortion, mutilation, and soil in the admit card will not be permitted to take up the test.
The applicants can generate duplicate admit cards only until the examination date. So, they should retain their admit cards carefully in a secure place for avoiding any sort of damage.
Admit cards should be retained until the overall admission process is completed. If a candidate needs a duplicate admit card after the examination, the same can be obtained from the board until the 31st of August 2023.
To get the duplicate admit card after the examination, the applicant will have to apply to the board and should pay the processing fee of Rs.500 in the form of DD drawn in the name of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board payable at Kolkata.
WBJEE 2023 Results
The board will publish the model answer key at the official website at www.wbjeeb.nic.in after conducting the examination. So, candidates are recommended to keep checking the website after the examination.
Any candidate can challenge any model answer key by logging in using his/her password. The challenges will be accepted within the specific time frame online through the official website of the board. Candidates can apply for the same by paying Rs.500 per question plus service charges of the bank. They can pay the amount using net banking/debit or credit card.
However, candidates should remember that the fee that they pay once will not be refunded in any case. The board will review the challenges and will publish the final answer key. In this regard, the decision of the board will be the final.
The board will publish the final result in the form of Rank Card. The card will have appropriate ranks, total score and part score in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Candidates can see and can download their rank cards by logging in to the website of the Board using their login credentials. According to WBJEE notification, the publication of results shall be in last week of April 2023 (tentative).
WBJEE 2023 Counselling/Admission
The board will publish a separate notification with details regarding seat allotment/e-counseling at the official website. It will happen shortly after the publication of the result.
Only the candidates, who become eligible for e-counseling, will be in a position to take part in the counseling. Before the seat allotment and counseling, the board will publish the course-wise and also institute-wise seat availability details as provided by the competent authority. The original certificates of the applicants will be verified at the reporting centers on the stipulated dates.
WBJEE 2023 Cut Off
The board will decide the Cut-off score for WBJEE based on different criteria. The cut-off is nothing, but the least marks that the board declares for the selection of students for various programmes offered by the university.
The board will announce the cut-off for 2023 only after the publication of the results. The rank of the candidates will be determined based on the examination score. The factors that decide the cut-off score are:
- Number of seats available in each institute
- Previous year cut-off
- Number of applicants
- The difficulty level of the examination
