About Examination
RRB, also known as Railway Recruitment Board recruits Assistant loco pilots through direct recruitment examination. It will release centralized employment notice for the categories of ALP and technicians. Common computer based written examination will be conducted on the same day by all the participating RRB’s. A total of 26500 vacancies will be filled through this notification. A total number of vacancies is the consolidation of all the available vacancies from all the regions of RRB.

RRB ALP 2021 Eligibility
Candidates should know RRB ALP 2021 eligibility before applying online for the posts of ALP and Technicians. Candidate should have prescribed age and educational qualification to appear in RRB ALP 2021 examination as per given below.
Age Limit
A candidate should be between 18 to 30 years as of the last date of the online application.
Age Relaxation
Please note that there is upper age relaxation for certain categories as per the following.
- 5 Years for SC/ST
- 3 Years for OBC
- 5 Years for Candidates of J&K domiciled from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989
- 10 Years for people with disability
- For ex-servicemen, up to the years of service in defense plus 3 years provided they have served for at least 6 months

Educational Qualification
For the posts of ALP:
- A candidate should have passed 10th class plus course completed Act apprenticeship or ITI approved by NCVT/ SCVT in the specified fields or equivalent qualification from a government recognized board or institution
- A candidate should have completed a diploma in a related field from a recognized board ( by AICTE in lieu of ITI)
- A candidate having a higher educational qualification in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Automobile Engineering/ Electronics recognized by AICTE are also eligible to apply.
For Technician posts:
Matriculation plus other specified qualification such as course completed Act apprenticeship or ITI approved by NCVT/ SCVT is required.

RRB ALP 2021 Application Fee
A candidate has to pay RRB ALP 2021 exam fee online/Offline as per the following. RRB ALP 2021 application fee of Rs. 250/- paid by certain categories like SC/ST/Economically backward class/EX-Servicemen/PwD/Women/minorities will be refunded back to applicants bank account after an appearance in CBT Stage I examination. If the fee is paid offline candidates need to provide bank account details to get the refund.

RRB ALP 2021 Exam Pattern
RRB ALP 2021 exam pattern has been changed from the year 2021. So candidates are requested to go through the revised RRB ALP 2021 Exam pattern. The question paper will be issued in the medium of English/ Hindi/ Urdu or other local languages as indicated by the applicant at the time of filling the RRB ALP 2021 application form.
As per sources, the merit list will be drawn from the written test and Aptitude test for the posts of ALP, and for technician posts, there will not be any aptitude test. A final stage of the process is document verification.

Note:
- All the stages will be held through Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Normalization of marks from all the stages will be done
- There will be negative marking for every wrong answer in stage I & II and 1/3 rd marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer
- There will be no negative marking in the Computer Based Aptitude test
1. CBT Stage – I
Computer Based test stage I is a screening test, it is only qualifying in nature. The marks scored in stage I will only be used for shortlisting the candidates for CBT stage II. This will comprise 75 Multiple Choice questions to be completed in 60 min. Each question carries 1 Mark and there will be a negative marking of 1/3rd for each incorrect answer.
A minimum eligible mark for each category is given below.
- General/ UR – 40%
- OBC – 30%
- SC – 30%
- ST – 25%
- PwD – 2% relaxation in case of shortage of candidates against PwD vacancies

2. CBT stage – II
This exam will be held in 2 parts for a total duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. They are,

- Part B
Part A:
The time duration of Part A of stage II CBT is 90 minutes and for total questions of 100. Marks scored in part A only will be considered for the further shortlisting subject to securing qualifying marks in Part B.
A minimum eligible mark for each category is given below.
- General/ UR – 40%
- OBC – 30%
- SC – 30%
- ST – 25%
- PwD – 2% relaxation in case of shortage of candidates against PwD vacancies
Part B
It is held in 60 minutes and the total number of questions will be 75. This part is also of a qualifying nature and a candidate should secure a minimum of 35% of marks. There is no relaxation in the minimum eligibility marks for any category. Questions will be from the trade syllabus prescribed by DGET.

3. Aptitude Test
For ALP posts, shortlisted candidates from the written test will be called for attending the Aptitude test. A candidate attending the Aptitude test has to secure a minimum of 42 marks in each of the test batteries, no relaxation will be given in the minimum marks for any category. Question paper and answer options will be given only in English and Hindi. A candidate should present a vision certificate as per the prescribed format, otherwise, the candidate will not be allowed to take an Aptitude test.
Normalization of Marks
The final merit list will be drawn by normalizing the marks scored in Part A of CBT stage II and CB AT and weightage will be 70% marks from Part A of CBT stage II and 30% from CB AT.
Document Verification
On successful completion of the written test and/ or Aptitude test and after scoring required marks as per the cutoff, candidates will be selected for the document verification.
A final merit list will be drawn as per the written test and Aptitude test in the case of Posts of ALP and from the written test alone for other posts. The same number of candidates as per the number of vacancies will be called for document verification.
Along with that candidates equaling 30% of vacancies are kept on standby. If any candidate failed to produce original documents at the time of verification their candidature will be forfeited and the candidates from the standby list will get preference according to their rank preference.
4. Medical Fitness Test
All the appointees have to undergo a medical fitness test conducted by Railway Administration to ensure they are medically fit. Visual standards are the most important aspect of the medical fitness test.

RRB ALP 2021 Application Form
Eligible candidates can fill RRB ALP 2021 Application Form online on the concerned official website of RRB. Online Applications are invited for RRB ALP 2021 examination, so interested candidates of RRB ALP 2021 can apply online only to appear in the examination.
Read the advertisement before filling the application form and make sure to keep the required information and documents to complete the application form.
The procedure to fill RRB ALP 2021 online application has been mentioned step wise below.
- Log on to the Railway Recruitment Board official website @ www.indianrailways.gov.in and click on a concerned regional website
- Go to the recruitment notification section and search the RRB ALP Technician Grade III Vacancy Advertisement
- Check the eligibility criterion and click on the “Apply online button”.
- Check the box to indicate that you have read and understood the advertisement and click on confirm
- Fill up the RRB ALP Technician Online Application Form with required details like Name, DOB, Fathers Name, Mothers Name, Aadhaar Number, State, Community, SSC Roll No, Year Of SSC Passing, Mobile Number, Email Id and then submit
- Registration number and password will be generated and displayed and OTP will be sent to mobile and email
- Use the OTP and registration number and password to proceed further
- In part 1 of the application fill Education Detail, Community, Gender, Religion, etc.
- Pay the required amount of fee via online or offline
- If paying online use Credit/ debit/ net banking to pay the fee and proceed to fill part 2 of the application. If paying offline in SBI branch/ post office payment confirmation may take 1 hour after payment or 28-48 hrs respectively, so login after said time to fill the remaining part.
- Provide bank details if claiming exemption of fee if paid through offline mode to get a refund
- Fill the part 2 of the application form by entering scribe details, detailed educational qualification, choice of exam language (for stage I & II only)
- Attach required scanned copies certificates like Photo with name and date printed on it and caste certificate if seeking free travel pass(SC/ST candidates only)
- Submit the completed application form online by confirming the declaration and get the hard copy of the application form for your future reference.
Note :
- Keep 12 copies of the same uploaded photograph for further use
- Modify minor details on the application form by paying a fee of Rs. 250/-, can be done twice only.
- Mobile number, state, and email details cannot be modified.

RRB ALP 2021 Exam Date
RRB ALP 2021 Exam Date has been announced by RRB. Only the Tentative date is out. It will be held in the months of April or May 2021. RRB ALP 2021 Admit Card
RRB ALP 2021 Exam Admit cards can be downloaded from official websites of region-wise railway recruitment boards. Admit cards will be made available on the concerned website before few weeks/ 10 days from the examination. Admit cards will not be sent through the post.
