UPSC Geoscientist 2021 Eligibility & Application Form

UPSC is inviting applications from the eligible candidate to fill the posts of Geologist (Group A), Geophysicist (Group A), and Chemist (Group A) under Geological Survey of Indian and Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B [Group A]) under Central Ground Water Board.

The application form has been released on the official website of UPSC @ upsconline.nic.in on 25th September 2020 and it will remain available to be filled till 15th October 2020.

The candidates who possess the required qualification and have not attained the age of 32 years can apply for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientists Exam 2021. Information regarding the minimum eligibility criteria, application form, how to apply, required documents, application fee, etc. is provided here.

UPSC GeoScientist Apply Online

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientists Eligibility Criteria 2021

Candidates willing to apply for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientists Exam 2021 will have to fulfill the below-mentioned minimum eligibility criteria as set by the Union Public Service Commission.

  • UPSC GeoScientist Admit Card
  • UPSC Combined GeoScientist Result

Nationality

Only the candidates who belong to any one of the following categories will be able to apply

  • Indian Citizen
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Tibetan Refugee (who came to permanently settle in India before 1st January 1962)
  • Indian origin person who migrated from any of the following countries to permanently settle in India
    • Malawi
    • Kenya
    • Burma
    • Sri Lanka
    • Pakistan
    • Uganda
    • Zaire
    • Zambia
    • United Republic of Tanzania
    • Ethiopia
    • Vietnam

The candidates who are not Indian Citizens will have to produce the certificate of eligibility issued by the Indian Government to become eligible to apply for UPSC Geo-Scientists Exam 2021.

Age Limit

In order to apply the candidates should be at least 21 years old and they should also not be older than 31 years of age. The age limit for a Hydrogeologist post will be 34 years.

Age Relaxation

Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to the candidate belonging to reserved categories as per the following.

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in any one of the following

Candidates should have an M.Sc. degree in any one of the following

Chemist

Candidates are required to have M.Sc. in any one of the following

  • Chemistry
  • Applied Chemistry
  • Analytical chemistry

Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B)

Candidates should have a Master’s Degree in any one of the following

  • Geology
  • Applied Geology
  • Marine Geology

UPSC CGGE Application Form 2021

UPSC Combine Geo-Scientists Application Form is available on the official website of UPSC @ upsconline.nic.in. Interested candidates, who fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions, can fill the online application form through the official website.

Candidates should note that they can fill the online application form till 15th October 2020. The application form is only available on the official website and there will be no alternative way to fill the online application.

To fill the UPSC CGGE 2021 Application Form candidates have to follow the below-mentioned steps

  • Go to the official website of UPSC
  • Click on “ONLINE APPLICATION FOR VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC”
  • A list of all the available exams will be displayed
  • Click on “Click Here for PART I” against “COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST (Preliminary) EXAMINATION”
  • A new page will open containing important instructions
  • Read the instructions
  • Click on “yes”

Part I Registration

Step I – Basic Details

  • Enter your name
  • Select your gender
  • Select date of birth
  • Enter the father’s name
  • Enter the mother’s name
  • Select nationality
  • Select marital status
  • Select if you have any disability or not
  • Select your community
  • Select if you belong to minority
  • Select if Fee Remission is allowed
  • Select your educational qualification
  • Enter address
  • Enter mobile number
  • Enter email id
  • Confirm your email id
  • Click on “Continue”

Step II – Claim Age Relaxation

  • Select if want to claim age relaxation
  • Click on the “Continue” button

Step III – ID Details

  • Select photo id card
  • Enter photo id number
  • Confirm photo id number
  • Select the category of service you want to apply for
  • Select examination center
  • Click on “Continue”

Step IV – Preview

  • Preview your application form
  • To make changes click on “Update” else
  • Enter the security code provided in the image
  • Click on “I Agree”

Step V – Application Fee

  • Select the method of payment
  • Make a payment of application fee

Step VI – Printout

  • Your registration id will be generated
  • Note down your registration id
  • Click on “Print Slip” to take a printout of the current page
  • Click on “Print Application Part I” to take a printout of the application form
  • Click on “Click here for Part II Registration”

Part-II Registration

Step I – Login

  • Enter your registration id
  • Select your date of birth
  • Enter the security code provided in the image
  • Click on the “Submit” button

Step II – Select Examination Centre

  • Select the examination center from the dropdown list
  • Click on “Submit”

Step III – Upload Documents

  • Upload your photo
  • Upload your signature
  • Upload photo identity card
  • Click on the “Upload” button

Step IV – Preview Documents

  • Preview your documents
  • Re-upload the documents if required
  • Click on “Continue”

Step V – Final Submit

  • Enter your photo id number
  • Read the declaration
  • Click on “I have read Declaration & Agree”

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Exam Application Fee

Candidates who will apply for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientists Exam will have to pay Rs. 200/- as application fee. The candidates who belong to SC / ST / PwBD category and women will be exempted from the payment of application fee.

The payment of UPSC CGGE Application Fee can be made through online or offline mode. Candidates can pay the application fee with internet banking, credit/debit card, or cash. To make payment through cash, candidates will have to select the “Pay by Cash” option and take a printout of Pay-in-slip and submit the application fee at the nearest SBI Branch.

Documents Needed for UPSC CGGE 2021

Following documents will be required to apply for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientists Exam 2021

  • Photograph in .jpg format with size between 20kb to 300kb
  • Photo id in PDF Format
  • Signature in .jpg format with size between 20kb to 300kb

Copies of the following documents are to submitted along with the Detailed Application Form (which has to be filled by the candidates who qualify the main exam). Original copies of these documents will also be required at the time of interview

  • Educational qualification certificate
  • Age proof certificate (Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate)
  • Certificate to support the claim in age/fee concession (if applicable)
  • Medical certificate (for PwBD candidates)
