RRB Group D Syllabus 2021 : Railway Group D 2021 examination will be conducted by RRC(s). Interested candidates must be aware of RRB Group D 2021 syllabus & exam pattern to know about the type of questions asked, contents of syllabus and standard of questions etc. RRC Group D 2021 exam pattern along with the prescribed railway Group D 2021 syllabus and selection process has been explained in this article.
RRB has released an official notification for filling up of 103769 vacant posts such as Assistant C&W, Assistant (Workshop), Assistant Loco Shed, Assistant Operations(Electrical), Assistant Bridge, Assistant (Pointsman, Signal & Telecom, Track Machine, TL&AC, TRD, Works), Track Maintainer Grade IV and Hospital Assistant etc. under Group D.
A huge number of vacancies are to be filled through RRB various posts in Level 1 of 7th CPC, so candidates can check the syllabus and exam pattern and start their preparation to score better in the upcoming RRB Group D examination.
RRB Group D 2019 Update
27 July 2021: RRB Group D 2019 Exam dates will be announced soon and the exam will be held in multiple stages.
April 2021: The CBT Stage I exam will be held between April-June 2021 but has been postponed.
RRB Group D Syllabus 2021 : Exam Pattern
A single application should be submitted for all the posts under RRB Level 1 posts of 7th CPC/ group D. The entire selection process of RRB group D 2021 will involve the following stages
- Stage 1 Computer Based Test
- Stage 2 Physical Efficiency Test
- Stage 3 Document Verification
- Stage 4 Medical Examination
Stage 1 Computer Based Test
- RRC Group D 2021 will be an online test i.e. CBT (computer based test) to be held at various examination centres located across the nation.
- The question paper will consist of 100 multiple choice questions to be completed in a maximum of 90 minutes (120 minutes in case of Scribe) and each MCQ will be of one mark.
- Negative marking of 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each wrong answer out of the allotted mark for that particular question.
- Candidates should secure minimum marks to be eligible and for various categories, the minimum mark percentage is as follows
- Un-Reserved – 40%
- EWS – 40%
- OBC NCL – 30%
- SC – 30%
- ST – 30%
- For PwBD candidates, the minimum marks will be relaxed by 2% in case of a shortage of PwBD candidates due to lack of merit against the vacancies reserved for them.
- 1st stage of CBT will be considered a qualifying test for selecting candidates for the next stage of CBT if the RRB administration conducts 2nd stage of CBT wherever necessary.
The question paper will be divided into four different sections named as Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness on Current Affairs. The topics given here below are illustrative but not exhaustive. Section-wise prescribed syllabus is given below
Mathematics
This section will consist of 25 MCQs and each MCQ will be of 1 mark. Prescribed topics for this section is HCF & LCM, number system, unitary method, simplification, percentage, algebra, time & work, simple & compound interest, mensuration (both 2D & 3D), decimal fractions, ratio & proportions, profit & loss, average, time & distance, data interpretation etc.
General Science
It will be the second section of the RRC Group D online test. This section will have 30 MCQs of 30 marks from environmental studies, chemistry, biology, physics etc.
General Intelligence and Reasoning
In this section, candidates have to solve 25 MCQs for 25 marks. MCQs will be based on verbal and non-verbal reasoning. Important topics in verbal reasoning are number series, number ranking, analogy, alphabet series, arithmetical reasoning, a test of direction sense, problem on age calculation, coding & decoding, blood relations, decision making etc. Important topics in non-verbal reasoning are non-verbal series, cubes & dice, mirror images, embedded figures, grouping identical figures etc.
General Awareness On Current Affairs
This section will have 20 MCQs of 20 marks based on personalities, Sports, Culture, Science & Technology, Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance (national/international events, current affairs, Indian history, geography, 5 year plans, famous authors with their books names, important days, honours & awards, science -inventions & discoveries etc.)
All the candidates are advised to prepare all the above mentioned topics properly to qualify computer based test.

Stage 2 Physical Efficiency Tests
Candidates qualified in Stage 1 CBT up to 3 times of the community wise total vacancies will be called for the Stage 2 Physical Efficiency test. It is mandatory and qualifying in nature. The further details on PET are as follows.

Note:
- PWDs are exempted from appearing for PET. But they will have to undergo a medical examination to be held after CBT.
- It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure they are medically fit to participate in PET. Railways will not be responsible if any harm/ injury occurs in the PET.
Stage 3 Document Verification & Empanelling Of Candidates
After judging the performance of candidates in the CBT and PET (qualifying is mandatory), they will be called for document verification i.e. Stage 3 of the selection procedure. Candidates with twice the number of vacancies will be called for DV. Additional candidates will be considered only for empanelment in case of shortage of candidates from the recommended candidates merit list/ as a replacement/ if recommended candidates not joined in the post.
In case of candidates securing the same marks, their age will be considered in which older age will get preference and then name in alphabetical order will be given the preference of placing the on high merit.
Stage 4 Medical Examination
Before the final appointment, candidates will have to pass a necessary medical fitness test. The medical test will be conducted by the Railway Administration.
Normalization Of Marks
If CBT is conducted in multiple sessions with the same syllabus, Normalization of marks will be done to select the candidates from CBT to PET and for DV.
RRB Group D Selection Procedure
To be finally selected for a post in Level – 1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, candidates will have to qualify each stage of the selection process i.e. Stage 1 CBT, Stage 2 PET, and Stage 3 Document verification, and Stage 4 Medical Examination. The final appointment of candidates is subject to their passing a CBT, PET, medical test, final verification of certificates (both educational & community), and verification of character.
RRC Group D Exam Date 2021
Railway Recruitment Cells will declare RRC Group D 2021 examination date and the same will be notified on the website and communicated to the email address of the candidates. The exact examination date of each stage of the Group D 2021 exam is to be released in due course of time. RRC(s) will announce and publish examination dates in all leading newspapers and on its website.
RRC Group D Admit Card 2021
Few days prior to the examination, RRC(s) will upload admit cards on regional RRB websites. To download your admit card, you will have to visit the concerned RRB website. Then, login into your account and download your admit card.
Note – All the candidates have to bring a valid RRC Group D 2021 admit card with a Photo ID and colour photographs to the examination centre
